Meet the Thrive Team

Choosing a counsellor is a personal decision, and finding the right fit matters. Our team is made up of thoughtful, compassionate clinicians who bring a range of perspectives, areas of focus, and experience to the work.

While each clinician has their own style and training, care at Thrive is grounded in shared values — collaboration, integrity, and deep respect for your pace and process. Therapy here isn’t about being fixed or pushed; it’s about being supported in ways that feel meaningful and sustainable.

You’re welcome to explore our team below and choose the clinician who feels like the best match. If you’re unsure where to start, we can help guide you toward someone who aligns with what you’re looking for.

We're Growing: Thrive is growing and we are currently seeking qualified clinicians who align with our values and approach to care. If you are interested in joining a warm, collaborative, and client-centred practice, we would love to hear from you. To connect, please email [email protected].

Karis Hand, RSW — Registered Social Worker

Karis is a Registered Social Worker who is committed to creating a warm, supportive space where clients can show up as they are. She believes that feeling seen, heard, and understood is an important part of meaningful change, and works collaboratively with clients to explore their experiences and move toward the life they want.

Her approach is holistic and grounded in the understanding that mental health is shaped by the connection between mind, body, and spirit, as well as the broader systems we exist within. Karis supports individuals navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and self-esteem, tailoring therapy to reflect each client’s needs, goals, and lived experience.

Holistic and collaborative approach

Karis draws from a range of therapeutic modalities, integrating approaches in a way that is thoughtful, collaborative, and responsive to each individual:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Attachment-Based Approaches

Karis offers both in-person and virtual sessions, supporting accessibility and flexibility in care.

Outside of the therapy space, Karis enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking, climbing, or camping, as well as creating art, reading, and connecting with the people who matter most to her.

Jennifer Wall, RSW — Registered Social Worker

Jennifer is a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work, offering thoughtful and compassionate support to adults and couples navigating some of life’s more vulnerable and challenging seasons. She provides a calm, steady space where clients can feel supported and explore what they’re carrying—without having to hold it all on their own.

Jennifer works collaboratively with individuals and couples facing grief related to death or divorce, relationship or workplace challenges, and periods of transition or uncertainty. She also supports clients who notice long-standing patterns of perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-criticism, anxiety, or a strong need to control the uncontrollable beginning to feel especially heavy. With decades of experience supporting individuals connected to adoption, her work is grounded in an attachment-sensitive approach.

Trauma-informed, strengths-based approach

Jennifer’s work is person-centred and grounded in evidence-based practices. She shapes each session with care, drawing from approaches that feel most nurturing and supportive for the individual:

  • Narrative Therapy
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Attachment Theory
  • Family Systems Theory

Jennifer believes strongly in each individual’s capacity to heal, adapt, and grow, even in the midst of difficult life circumstances. With over 30 years of experience supporting individuals and families in Kelowna and the surrounding area, she brings depth, steadiness, and compassion to her clinical work.

Outside of the therapy space, Jennifer enjoys travelling, reading, and writing. She also finds grounding in long walks—especially along the lake during warm summer evenings in the Okanagan.
